What To Expect

Hello! I hope this page can help answer any questions about the therapy process. Every journey is unique and I aim to find the best mode of therapy for you so that I can guide and support you on your healing process. I wish we were meeting under different circumstances, but am glad you are here.

  • A consultation is our first chance to connect, and would span 30 minutes during which we meet on an online platform. This time is dedicated to understanding your therapy needs and preferences, while I also share information about myself. This ensures that we can assess compatibility and determine if we are a good fit for each other.

  • Experiential therapy is a therapeutic approach using experiences to foster growth and healing. I will use experiences in sessions to help you gain insight into your emotions and responses to challenges in the moment. This gives you opportunity to generalize this learning into your daily life and make sustainable change.

  • When choosing therapeutic climbing, we can incorporate climbing sessions throughout the therapy process. This will not mean you are only exclusively doing therapeutic climbing, but will have opportunities to do sessions in other venues.
    When starting therapeutic climbing, we will discuss which location works best to meet your needs (either Englewood or Golden). For session, we will meet at the rock climbing gym and I will walk you through our focus and sequence of session together. Your confidentiality is my highest priority and I will work with you on the most appropriate goals that ca be worked on in session at the gym.

  • EMDR is much more than the β€œdesensitization” of the trauma you have experienced. You will be guided through the 8 phases of this modality and timeframes can often vary. Some people can move through these in 2-3 sessions, while others may take up to 6+ months. Every persons journey is unique and I honor the pace that you wish to move through this healing process.

  • Family therapy will occur in-person and at times move into the climbing gym, as well. Through sessions, I focus on building foundational skills for families to work through conflict and build on strengths to support deeper level healing.
